| EME activity weekends For newcomers: The idea of activity weekends is to encourage activity on the higher microwave bands outside contest weekends. There are no restrictions... if you wish then use the logger, telephone, HF....and use any mode. It is not a contest. It enables everyone to make QSOs, test new equipment, feeds, preamps etc. Hopefully some of the big guns get on and provide signals for newcomers to look for. We try to have these in the summer time ( N. hemisphere) when its easier to throw stuff together for an initial try at a new band,sometimes just to listen. The best weekends ( high dec/ low loss) have already been selected for contests. Looking at the weekends between June and August inclusive, I suggest the following 6cm May12/13 Declination –,1.4 to +5.8 3cm June 9/10 Dec +1 to +8 9cm July 7/8 Dec +3.5 to +10.5 13cm August 4/5 Dec +6.6 to +12.9 I dont think the April 28/29 weekend is very useful as the dec is dropping, –,2 to –,10.
